Care of Ratties
Now that we have had a lot of rats, we have learned a lot about the care of them.
Food - We used to give them the pet store rat food. However, it was so full
of filler that they didn't eat that we didn't want to do that. Jennifer found
a ton of information about them on the web and we found two things to give them.
One is what we call rattie mash. It is a wet mixture of tofu and lots of grains
as well as some vitamins and minerals for them. They seem to like it.
The other is a mixture of puffed rice, wheat, Total cereal, dried fruits and vegetables
and some pasta. They eat most of it and like it a lot more!
Treats - For treats, they used to love Honey Nut Cheerios. However, as we
have found more and better treats, they don't seem to like those as much anymore.
They love dry spaghetti. They go nuts for it! They also like some various
dog treats. I have to find the names and type of them.
Care - For care, we found a great vet. She listens to us, makes time for us,
and has been great. My wife found several sites on rats and got a very good
reference book on rats. We like it and so does our vet, who has used it!

I took this picture and really hoped it turned out. I knew I had framed it
well but hoped they were all in focus and the flash didn't drown the colors too
bad. I love it!
